The Umbwe Route is the shortest, steepest and most direct way up Kilimanjaro. From day one it climbs a dramatic forest ridge, gaining altitude fast, and joins the Machame Route at Barranco Camp.
Because of the rapid ascent, Umbwe has poor acclimatization and is recommended only for experienced high-altitude trekkers who are confident in how their body responds to thin air. For those climbers, it offers a wild, quiet and thrilling approach.

Questions
Only trekkers with prior high-altitude experience (for example Mount Meru, Kenya or the Andes) who know they acclimatize well.
